May 3, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): On May 1, Dr. Jayamala, the outgoing president of Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (the election to KFCC is on May 8) danced to her film Girikanye’s song on popular demand before she received the honour from the Karnataka Cinema Workers Federation in the premises of cinema workers office.
Inspector in the Karnataka State Police, Junior Rajakumar KVR Ramu dressed in a Dr. Rajakumar outfit of Girikanye and danced with co-dancers, coming down a tree. Everyone liked the song and demanded an encore performance; this time with Dr. Jayamala holding hands of Junior Rajakumar and putting a few steps in, thrilling everyone. The song they performed to was pictured on Dr. Rajakumar in Girikanye (1977). Jayamala was called Girkanye Jayamala from then on.
Dr. Jayamala, who is the President of KFCC was given the traditional honor on this occasion. The silk saree, bangles, flowers, Yellow and Red Kumkum was offered to her in the felicitation.
She felt it was the most memorable felicitation, in her entire career, spanning 37 years. She repents not having done good work for the Karnataka Cinema Workers Federation in her regime as KFCC President. Dr. Jayamala thanked thousands of cinema workers and the President of Cinema Workers Federation Ashok for supporting her in doing Amrutha Mahotsava of Kannada cinema.
