June 7, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Remake of old classics are in! The 2010 movie Ogo Bodhu Sundari is an adaptation of the old movie from the eighties. The movie has a starcast comprising of singer-actor Babul Supriyo and Sreelekha Mitra. Monami Ghosh will be seen in the role originally played by Mousumi Chatterjee. Sunando Mitra is the director of this film.

The 1980’s movie Ogo Bodhu Sundari directed by Salil Dutta and starring Uttam Kumar, Sumitra Mukherjee, Santosh Dutta, Mousumi Chatterjee and Ranjit Mullik, remains a classic Bengali movie till date. Bappi Lahiri’s music in this film remains unforgettable too. He is also doing the music for the 2010 adaption. The songs remain the same, but will be rendered by Alka Yagnik, Shreya Ghosal, Babul Supriyo and Anwesha. Former Indian Cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly released the music of the movie on 13th May.

Babul Supriyo is all excited about this movie, in which he is appearing as the hero. He had had a small appearance in a Bengali movie named ‘Chander Bari‘ earlier, but this time he gets to play the male lead role. Although the theme and the idea of the movie is identical, Babul claims that it is not a remake but has new twists added to it. He also claims that it is a tribute to the great actor Uttam Kumar. Babul’s character in this movie is also called Uttam Kumar Chakraborty.

Supriyo talked about the problems faced by them as the previous producers and a couple of prominent actors had left them stranded. The movie has being produced by D Silva Productions, Rose Valley Films and Brand Value Communications jointly and released on the 4th of June.
