January 11, 2011 : The super hit Tamil action Movie Singam, which had Surya Sivakumar and Anushka Shetty as the lead couple, is all set for a Kannada makeover. It’s not going to be one of those silly controversial copies as Producer Shankare Gowda has acquired the rights for his Kannada
version of the movie.
The Kannada version will be titled Kempe Gowda and actor Sudeep has been approached to play the lead role. Sudeep will not just act but also direct the movie for Shankare Gowda. The last time he directed and acted for Shankare in the movie Just Maath Maathalli which was a disaster. Let’s just hope history doesn’t repeat itself this time. Singam, the original Tamil movie is also set to be remade in Hindi with Ajay Devgn as the lead and Rohit Shetty as the director.
There have been rumors that the story of Kempe Gowda has resemblance from Sudeep’s previous movie, Thirupathi, which proved to be a disaster at the box office. Sudeep is also shooting for Kannada movie Kanwarlal lately. With him acting in Kanwarlal and acting and directing in Kempe Gowda, it seems that he will be a busy man this year. Let’s just hope, he can handle the pressure and give us some nice movies to watch with our families.
In case you didn’t know, Kempe Gowda was the name of the person, who founded Bengaluru and the famous “Nandi Temple” located in Basavanagudi.
