June 9, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) is in no mood to compromise with anyone attending IIFA awards function in Sri Lanka. All of them have united to boycott the films of any anyone attending the award ceremony.
The latest target of FEFSI is Ram Gopal Verma’s forthcoming Telugu film Rakta Charitra, which will also be dubbed in Hindi and Tamil. The film stars actor Surya and Vivek Oberoi in important roles.
Recently, the FEFSI targeted Hrithik Roshan‘s Kites, which was taken off from the theatres in Tamil Nadu. Now, Raktha Charitra has to face the same as Vivek Oberoi, who has a key role in the film, had recently criticized the decision of FEFSI to boycott IIFA. Hence, all the five states of the south, will not allow screening of the movie in their theatres.
During the recent war against the LTTE, the country was allegedly involved in genocide of Tamilian people. Moreover, the country is reportedly continuing with the discrimination against them. Hence, the film bodies of South India wanted the venue shifted.
However, it was not possible at the last moment, and many of the Bollywood stars went by their prior commitments and attended the IIFA award function in Sri Lanka. This angered the FEFSI which retaliated by boycotting the films of such actors.
We hope, Surya’s presence in the film changes their mood and Rakta Charitra gets a huge release in South India!
