May 08, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Malayalam film viewers will get to watch some new films after waiting endlessly for 22 days. The restrictions on film releases have been lifted and yesterday, a number of movies released.
The differences between the producers and the exhibitors came to an end and three big films released on Friday.
The biggest and most hyped of the lot is no doubt, Pokkiri Raja, starring Mammootty and Prithviraj. It was supposed to release on April 30 but got delayed. It marks Shriya Saran’s Malayalam debut. The movie will be releasing in 85 centres.
Mohanlal’s film, Alexander, The Great, released yesterday too. With that, it is yet to say which Big M of the Malayalam industry will emerge victorious. After all, when two superstars are pitted together, sparks are going to fly for sure.
Director Sathyan Anthikkad’s fiftieth film Katha Thudarum is the other release of this week. As is usual in Sathyan’s films, this film too will be about the story of a middle class man.
With three such films against each other and a movie-starved audience, the cash counters are bound to ring this week.
