Prashant Chainani the less known actor was last noticed for his work in the movie Lakshya and now he is back with 42 kms where he is playing a character of a college student as well as a marathon runner. Here is a brief tete-a-tete with the good looking actor about his upcoming film which he is all confident about.
How relevant is the subject of 42 kms to the actual mumbai marathon?
As everyone knows the Mumbai marathon is one of the biggest marathon of the country and people from different cities come and participate in it and this how is the subject of our movie revolves around it and also the major characters of the movie are inspired by different types of people who come and participate in the Mumbai marathon.
You are an extremely fit person yourself…what extra training did you undergo for this role?
We had less time for the extra training as we shot the film in ten days and as my character in the movie has two sides one of a college guy and another of a marathon runner it was difficult to have both the looks at the same time one of a cool college guy and another of lean marathon runner but I ended up looking somewhere in between both of them.
You play the role of a college bunker in the film. Were you like that in your college days?
I think everyone bunks lectures in college days but I was a bit disciplined as my schooling was done from a boarding school but there were these four guys in my college who turned me into a big bunker and at the end of my last year I hardly used to attend any of the lectures.
Despite getting appreciation for your brief yet important part in Lakshya why didn’t we see you much after that?
Frankly saying I didn’t got the kind of material I was looking for in the story. I am really choosy about my work and kind of people I am working with because these are those people with whom I would be working for six long months .
The film was ready for a sometime now. Do you think it will affect the prospects of the film?
Noways it won’t affect the prospects of the movie at all because a good film will do well even if you release it after ten years from now and a bad film will not work any which ways.
There are a lot of actors in the film. Didn’t you sense competition from them all?
It was really great working with all these talented actors like Mandira Bedi,Vikram Saluja ,Purab,Sameer and the whole team they are all not only easy to work with but are also a very good hearted human being.
How was it working under Nisha? Were there fights on the sets with her or a difference in opinion?
There was always problems between me and her about the timing. Because of me she use get late everyday on the set but apart from that it was a good experience working with her I think she is the diretor who knows what to do and what not to do so sometimes only she used to agree on my point.
Tell us something interesting that happend while shooting the marathon sequences?
So many things happened at the time of shooting but when while shooting the cops used to stop us and when we didn’t got the permission that time we all used to get crazy and tried to make the things work out with them this movie is really very close to me and we had lots of fun working on this film as I was also assisting my sister with filmmaking.
Were there many retakes while doing the running shots?
No, not at all I think everybody knows how to run and they were no retakes for the running sequences. Yes, sometimes if some bus or something was passing by then there were retakes otherwise none.
Tell your fans three reasons why they need to see 42 kms?
The first one is that there are these four incredibly good looking guys in the movie Sameer Datani, Purab Kohli, Prashant Chainani and Bikram Saluja. Also I think the other reason is that it is a human story and each one who is taking part in the marathon has a story and this movie has got a silver lining as it tells the viewers that if you make difficult choices in life then eventually your life will become easier and easier come and do watch this movie if your stuck somewhere in your life and want to get out of it.
