Pointilist Technique:

Mahima Chaudhry at Hope Little Sugar premiere in Cinemax on April 17th 2008 (9).jpgIn this show he is expressing a new phase of his journey as he experiments on pointillist technique.Padmanabh’s paintings are derived from a complicated technique called “Pointilist” technique. He pours colors on canvas and tilts it to give a free flow of dripping forms, similarly the process is repeated three to four times each time he tilts the canvas in different directions which creates an abstract form; in the end, he gives a meaning to these forms in terms of a human face, birds, butterflies or simply rocks. Each layer that he paints is painted with individual dots with the brush placing these dots next to each other with the result that it gives different hues of colors, texture and optical illusions and vibrations. This technique is painstaking and requires tremendous patience. It takes almost three to four weeks of continuous work six to eight hrs a day to create one piece of Padmanabh’s art.
