Sunday night was a night of bliss for the ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ team and almost the whole team was celebrating their spectacular night at the Oscars. But two very prominent people- veteran lyricist Gulzar and crooner Sukhwinder Singh who had a very important role to play towards the success of the ‘Jai Ho’ song, were missing in action.
Veteran Gulzar was officially nominated with A.R.Rahman in the Best Original Song category for ‘Jai Ho’ and his name was called out on stage.
Sukhwinder despite not being nominated was all set to perform live on stage along with Rahman at the Kodak theatre.
Both were unable to attend the event due to some paperwork irregularities.
The buzz is that Sukhwinder was much exited to be performing at the Oscars and had even submitted all his official documents to secure an official work permit letter from the Oscar authorities. But then things didn’t work out as he didn’t receive any intimation from the concerned authorities.
Gulzar too seems to have missed the event as he didn’t receive any official intimation.
Had the concerned authorities been a little more careful, the talented twosome from India would have been a part of the festivities. A big miss, this one.
