Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra: More Coffee, Anyone?

So when our very own Karan Johar came back on the small screen with his second season of Koffee with Karan, we all rejoiced and waited to get reacquainted with our very own Bollywood sweethearts. A far cry from the sophisticated and ultra chic Rendezvous with Simi Garewal, Koffee with Karan is younger, hipper and more importantly, focused on our favorite subject-Bollywood. Not to mean that it is not sophisticated-it has the crème de la crème of our industry. And no wonder that only the top league is featured as they all want to be in King Karan’s good books.

After the exhaustive interview that Karan had with Rakhi Sawant-where the spunky item girl broke down three times while narrating about her difficult life, we needed something seriously Bollywood. And I guess Karan heard us as the latest episode was a treat for sore eyes-male and female alike. Karan’s first guest was the Greek god of Bollywood himself- none other than Hrithik Roshan! Looking dapper in a well fitting blazer and a white jersey, he looked yummy. As he settled down, the genial host quizzed him on a couple of predictable questions like what did he want to say to all the people who had written him off? Or what was his reaction to the success of his films? As expected, the king of diplomacy dished out predictable answers to match. It was quite boring to watch him say those things-it seemed like he was in a beauty pageant. But I don’t think it really matters even if he didn’t say anything and sat there-he looked that good!

Once our second guest came in, things got a lot more fun. What else can you expect when one of the most sought after girls in Bollywood comes on a talk show looking completely ravishing? Priyanka Chopra was a treat to look at and bet all the guys rejoiced on seeing her pretty face. She was all fun and laughter. But a little later, things got a tad uncomfortable when Hrithik jumped in to defend Priyanka’s look in Krissh, which was much criticized. One could actually sense the discomfort that the other two felt when Hrithik started getting a little surly. But then, Karan worked his magic and all was fine.

I guess the best part of the entire one hour was when Karan started on his rapid fire round. Hrithik finally shed his cloak of modesty and out came the honest answers, which were quite funny! For once, he aired humanistic views on things and you know what? I sure liked him better that way. After his round got done, Priyanka had a tough fight. But her rapid fire matched him point for point as things just could not get funnier! The part where she had to react through facial expressions was just killer and the one liners-she really should consider writing! Poor Karan, he just could not make up his mind so he left it to them to share their prize.

For once, we saw some changes in the show where Karan really did not do much of the talking. All in all, it was a fun segment and we look forward to more of the same on Koffee with Karan.
