Koffee with Karan – I’ll tell you what is in that coffee hamper!

Ok. You know those times when you are just bored of having your regular coffee and just seem sort of lost. It suits you fine and gets your engine all pumped up, but sometimes a change is good right? Only problem is that when you try this new drink, most of the times it backfires and you run back chastened to your regular decaf.

This time around, the coffee on Koffee with Karan was that something different that Karan tried out. But fortunately, this one did not blow up in his face or ours. Instead of having his regular guests on his regular chat show talking about regular things, this time he decided to show us the things that we were really curious about. Like how do the stars look so perfect and are always well coordinated? How is it that they know exactly where to pause and greet the host, to sit and what to do?

In this o holds barred, Karan enlightened us with inside scoop on the show. Turns out, the stars are just as nervous and clueless like any regular person. It is Karan who gives them the cues as to where exactly pause, how to air kiss and where to sit. As if this is not enough, he also takes care of their make up, ensemble and total look. And here we were appreciating their personal taste…

Nostalgically, he spoke about the special moments on the show that he fondly remembers. He started off with saying that after the first season, he was criticized for inviting only the crème de la crème of Bollywood on the show. So this time around, he decided to explore the outer realms of our vast industry. Turns out, it was a fruitful experience in more ways than one. Though each guest was special, he spoke fondly about Himesh, Shahrukh, Shabana Azmi and Javed Akhtar, the Kapoor clan and surprise surprise! Rakhi Sawant! Cute goof ups and the crazy things stars say and do were also shown.

But coming down to business, there was one thing I’m sure everyone wondered about. What is in the coffee hamper that has all these big stars clamoring after it like little children? I for one found it bizarre that they were fighting over some coffee powder and biscuits. Shows how naïve I was because when I got to know the contents of the amazing hamper, my jaw almost hit the floor. Not only did it have delicious coffee powder, an authentic Turkish mug and loads of mouth watering cookies, it also had colognes and perfumes from Lancôme, not to mention the make up (yes! Make up!). It also had great state of the art gizmos like a DVD player cum I Pod holder and the coolest phone ever. All that for answering some quiz!

But it was a great episode because we saw the people behind the stars and Karan as a guy with an eye for detail. It was fun and I feel closer to the show now.
