On ‘Amul Star Voice of India – Mega Music League’. Mumbai, Sunday, Dec 21st: Amidst of all excitement, suspense and anticipation, STAR PLUS proudly announces Ravi Shukla as ‘Voice of India’.
It was five long months of struggle & dedicated practice that led to the public and the esteemed judges who unanimously gave their verdict in selecting Ravi as the singing sensation of India. This star studded evening witnessed the presence of the biggest names in the music fraternity as they came together to celebrate the grand musical finale at an amazing location in Karjat , a few kilometres away from Mumbai. The winner was bestowed with gifts including Rupees 25 lakhs from Star TV, apart from the prestigious Voice of India trophy, a Chevrolet Spark car and a three years contract with T- Series. The finalists also received two gold coins from the title sponsor Amul.
This musical journey had begun on July 18th 2008 from the City of Joy Kolkata in which 24 supremely talented contestants were selected to be the part of the nation’s biggest music talent hunt show ‘Amul Star Voice of India – Mega Music League’. In its second season, this competition became bigger and more intense with 12 singing prodigies – Bemisaal Barah- finally being selected from various states across India. This time ‘Voice of India’ ventured into the interiors of India like Assam, Ranchi and small towns to discover the young hidden talent. The show also had an esteemed panel of judges, namely Sukhwinder Singh, Monty Sharma and Ismail Darbar, along with the versatile singer & affable host Shaan. All through these five months of musical tussle, the contestants have tasted both success and failure, the nation has witnessed the heated conversations between the judges over unexpected elimination and also showcased were the emotionally charged back stories of each contestant.
Through their spectacular performances, the Bemisaal Barah soon captured the hearts of every music lover. Hailing from humble yet different backgrounds, these contestants had traversed through many highs and lows with the sole mission of winning this coveted title. The had also w o n over the hearts of many celebrities like Ajay Devgan, Mallika Sherawat, Farhan Akhtar, Shiney Ahuja, Sunny Deol and many more Bollywood sensations who had appeared on the show as celebrity guests.
Last night was truly a memorable evening as most of the renowned names of music fraternity were present to bless the finalists and to celebrate the much awaited victory of Ravi Shukla. Kunal Ganjawala, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Jagjit Singh, Ila Arun, Sonu Niigam, Bappi Lahiri, Roopkumar Rathod were some of the much acclaimed singers present at the occasion and their performances had turned the evening into a magical event . Kunal crooned to the tunes of his hit number ‘Everything’s Going To Be Alright’ while the classical diva Kavita Krishnamurthy lend her voice to ‘Har Karam Apna Karenge ‘. Roop Kumar Rathore performed on ‘Sandese Aate Hai’ while the pop guru Bappi lahiri had the audiences swaying to his hit song, ‘Mumbai Nagariya‘.
