Actress Taapsee Pannu expressed that achieving equality for the woman becomes easier, smoother and faster with man’s support on the sidelines of Lux Golden Rose Petal Awards here in Mumbai.
Lux Golden Rose Petal Awards started this year’s edition with “He For She” campaign and actress Taapsee Pannu shared her thoughts on the movement.
Talking about the women empowerment and equal rights, Taapsee Pannu said, “I think, He For She, is a move or walk towards equality because if a female alone kept fighting for rights, maybe the things will take time to happen, achieving the equality status might take time but if you have the support from the man, who are there around in our lives, I think the journey becomes smoother, easier and faster”
“There are men, who actually stand up for women. I know so many of them, who stand up for women, there are so many of my co-actors, who actually makes me feel that they are there for me or for females or actresses, for that matter. And I think that is a good way to move ahead in this journey for empowerment and equality”
Recently Actor Taapsee Pannu made headlines for making a comment on pay parity but at the same time, she feels whether two people (irrespective of their gender) should be paid equally depends on their capabilities.
Talking about her stand on pay parity, she said, “I still stand by what I said, if my movies open with same numbers as my male counterparts, then I don’t need a hero to open my film big at the box-office. And that day I will ask for the same amount of money, and that day my producers will be happy to pay me that amount of money”
“I think you should charge on basis of how much your film can collect on your name. I think that is how you should charge money for your films” she added.
Bollywood recently witnessed Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone tie the knot, and soon enough Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas will be getting married and Taapsee Pannu is all wishes for the couple but expresses that she will not be attending any of the receptions.
Talking about the work commitments and attending the star wedding receptions, Taapsee said, “I saw the pictures, they are looking great. I wish them good luck for a very happy married life. And I wish all of them, who are getting married. I will not be attending, as I am shooting in Chennai and post that I am going to Marrakech in Florence because Mulk and Manmarziyaan are getting screened at the film festivals, so I am going there to attend that”
The Lux Golden Rose Breakthrough Beauty of The Year award was bagged by Taapsee Pannu. She received the award from Varun Dhawan and Chitrangada Singh. Taapsee won the same award three times in a row, first for Pink and second for Shabana.
