Mumbai-based actress and model Rituu Sachdev who has done lead roles in south films like the recently-released Kannada film Sri moksha is being harassed by a crank caller. She was earlier threatened by a producer from Hyderabad and feels that the producer and the crank caller may be connected.
Rituu has filed a complaint at the Versova Police station in suburban Mumbai. Says Rituu, “The police have registered an NC (NC No 2043/10) under sections 504 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code for issuing threats and harassing a woman and are trying to track down the culprit.”
According to Pratap Deb of Twilight Celeb Management – the firm handling Rituu Sachdev’s work and publicity, the producer’s agent met her during an audition in Mumbai. She was subsequently introduced to the producer who agreed to sign her for two of his films. However after enquiries Rituu found out that the producer was of a dubious character and most of the information given by him was incorrect. She hence refused to work with him and turned down the film offers.
First the producer started calling her and sweet-talking her and later on began to harass her by calling her from different phone nos. when the actress stopped taking his calls. He threatened her with dire consequences if she didn’t agree to his demands and work with him.
The 22-year-old Rituu originally hails from Delhi but has now made Mumbai her permanent home. She started her career as an air-hostess flying for the national carrier but soon gave up flying to fulfill her childhood dream of acting.
With an hour-glass figure Rituu has already featured in four south films (Telugu, Kannada and Tamil) and done several TV commercials and print advertisements. She was seen in a music video released by Venus Music and sung by renowned singer Alka Yagnik. She has also shot for two more music videos which are due for release.
Rituu has signed on almost a dozen other projects including a popular Reality Show on a mainline entertainment channel.
Recently, Rituu began receiving crank and at times threatening and vulgar calls from local phones in Mumbai and suspects that the same producer or his agents may be behind the crank calls.
