Let’s start with a birthday wish for the dearest and the inspiring romantic hero of the Indian cinema, the legendary Dev Anand who turned 84 on September 26. The young-at-heart is still ruling the minds of thousands of young fans of Bollywood with his indomitable spirit to reach to the zenith of success. The latest romantic pulse from Dev Anand assumes the form of a movie named ‘Love at Times Square’ which is waiting to be released on February 14 th. Look at his smartness in marketing the movie by selecting the Valentine’s Day for its release! We should call it a very well planned coincidence. Whatever it is, The Times Square, as well as Dev’s heart, is getting ready to accommodate more lovers to it. There is another ‘planned coincidence’ that got its way paved through Dev’s 84 th birthday. The birthday bash was followed by the release of his autobiography named ‘Romance with Life’ on September 27. At this moment of happiness, let’s wish the octogenarian actor-producer a happy and a long romantic life.
And if you are waiting to hear about what Bollywood is making globally, here they are. ‘Ekalavya’, a family melodrama from Vidhu Vinod Chopra made it to the Oscar’s entry for the Best Foreign Movie Category. A great part of the credit for the success of the movie can be attributed to the trio Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan and Vidya Balan who played the leading roles, making it a historical win for Vinod Chopra whose two movies, An Encounter with Faces (1980) and Parinda (1989) had earlier made it to the Oscar nomination.

Here is the happy news for the fans of John Abraham and Shah Rukh Khan who are desperately waiting for their favorite stars’ new forms. Eros International, the producer, has announced the release of the movie ‘No Smoking’, directed by Anurag Kashyap, on October 26 in UK. The John Abraham element takes the ‘no-smoking’ theme of the movie to new heights with the help of the best leading female role played by Ayesha Takia. Another movie from Eros International, ‘Om Shanti Om’, directed by Farah Khan, in which Shah Rukh Khan plays the role of a junior artist, will be in to theaters early by November 9, an immediate response created to the requests of the Bollywood fans in Germany. The movie will be screened at the Berlin Film Festival.
Kajol and Ajay Devgan in You Me and Hum
Eros International is in limelight because of its series of blockbusters on the move around the globe. After the blockbuster release of Heyy Babyy, the super comedy of the year, Eros has now turned its direction towards the sexiest couples in the Bollywood, Ajay Devgan and Kajol, for its upcoming 3D film with animation. The name of the movie is ‘Toonpur Ka Super Hero’. The news about Kajol signing up to play opposite to Devgan in a second Eros film (the movie ‘You Me and Hum’ in which the Devgan couple is playing the leading roles is under production from Eros) throws a new challenge to the budding actresses for their future in the Bollywood.

All that said about the ongoing productions, let’s walk into the theatres now. It seems that the Bollywood is full of comedians now. Akshay Kumar, who was known for his villainous roles, is now the happiest to be known as the Best Joker in the Bollywood. The story is being repeated with other action heroes and villains of Bollywood as well. If you watch the latest movie ‘Dhol’ by Priyadarshan, you will see another ‘mega transformation’ in the roles of some of the leading actors such as Kunal Khemu. Kunal, who had given life to the daring characters in ‘Traffic Signal’ and ‘Kalyug’, is wearing a totally different silly look in the new movie. All seem to be the influence of the real kalyug. In Dhol, Kunal Kehmu is playing the role of one of the four goofies who make their rounds till the end of the movie with non-stop comedy.

And if you think our female actors are satisfied with what they are up to in Bollywood, you are very much wrong. Look what Tanushree Dutta has to tell about her dream roles in Bollywood. In a recent interview to India FM, she revealed her passion to act in action movies that have much scope for action-oriented roles for females as in the Hollywood. Are the action-directors listening? Is Tanushree inspired by her role in the new action movie that is going to be directed by Hadi Arbar in which she is given the leading role? Or, is she upset about allotting all the actions to the dominated gender in this movie too? We will have to wait a long for that to be revealed, but.

Is it the end of a love season or a beginning of a new one? The Shahid Kapoor- Karina pair has been heard playing the wonderful pair in their upcoming romantic comedy ‘Jab We Met’ that will reach the theater on October 26. Let’s wait and watch who takes over whom in the reel life and the real life.
And, if you think that only the actors or actresses make it to the reels, Teddy Maurya proves it wrong. The art director probably was desperate in getting into one of the shots of ‘Jab We Met’, and at the end, he made it though. During the shooting of the movie in Punjab, he got bit by a ferocious dog on his butt (What would have prompted the dog to jump towards him?). If you think that was too much of Teddy, then turn your side to Imtiaz Ali who captured all that actions devilishly into his camera. Not enough of it, Imtiaz is planning to give the action between the dog and his co-worker a notorious publicity by adding it in the ‘behind-the-scene’ shots. Do you think Teddy will agree to it? Probably, yes; if he is offered a better chance (!) in Imtiaz’ next movie!!
