Actress Swara Bhaskar was spotted at the launch of Zee5 OTT platform launch for digital content consumers here in Mumbai. During her media interaction, Swara Bhaskar expressed that digital medium is not a competition, more like complimentary.
Talking about OTT platform being a threat to films and Television, Swara said, “I don’t think there is any such thing. I think films have a different charm, and they have a different reach. Now this audience is different, which might not go to theatres, now they will watch movies on App. I actually had this experience during Anarkali of Arrah, a lot more people watched the film on app and television, rather than theatres. I think this shouldn’t be seen as competition with films and box-office, it should be seen as complimentary”
Zee5 aims at servicing increasingly digital savvy and globally connected new age India while being fundamentally rooted in its culture. Swara Bhaskar and Badshah were present at the launch.
Swara Bhaskar also talked about movies being available on OTT medium will not affect the business rather opens new dimension to distribution. She said, “I am sure producers are conscious about it too, and in 3-4 days only pirated movies come online. I don’t think Zee5 would involve himself with such practices. I think this kind of platform will introduces new kind of distribution platforms, deals and patterns, which will be very good for audience and artists”
“I am surprised with Zee5 scale; this platform is available in so many languages. They have developed content in dubbing and subtitle as well”
