The makers of the upcoming Bollywood film “Hera Pheri 4” are facing legal issues as Eros and T-Series have issued legal notices to the film’s producer, Feroz Nadiadwala, over copyright violations. Eros has claimed sole ownership of the intellectual property rights of the film, which includes digital and music rights. They have also demanded INR 60 crore for the rights to be returned to Nadiadwala.
In a public notice issued by Eros, they have stated that they have made a deal with Nadiadwala in 2015 for INR 130 crore for the rights of three of his films, which include ‘Hera Pheri 3’, ‘Welcome Back’, and ‘Awara Paagal Deewana 2’. The intellectual property rights of these films are claimed by Eros, which means they have sole and exclusive rights to the film’s release in any part of the world.
The legal notice sent by T-Series claims that they have the exclusive rights to the film’s music and have demanded an immediate halt to any further use of their copyrighted material.
‘Hera Pheri 4’ has been in the making for a long time, and it was initially announced as ‘Hera Pheri 3’ in 2015, with a cast that included Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal. However, the film never took off, and it was later announced as ‘Hera Pheri 4’ in 2019, with Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty reprising their roles from the previous films.
The legal issues faced by the film’s makers may lead to a delay in its release, as Eros has claimed sole ownership of the film’s intellectual property rights, including the title and digital rights. The ‘Hera Pheri’ franchise has had a massive fan following since its first instalment in 2000, and fans are eagerly waiting for the fourth instalment. However, it remains to be seen how these legal issues will be resolved and if the film will be released anytime soon.
