Actor Rahul Bhat who is gearing up for his upcoming film ‘Daas Dev’ has said that it is good for him that he will be compared with Dilip Kumar and Shah Rukh Khan after release of ‘Daas Dev’.
Rahul Bhat was interacting with media at shooting location of ‘Rangdari’ song from ‘Daas Dev’ on Sunday in Mumbai.
Actors like Dilip Kumar and Shah Rukh Khan has earlier played character of Devdas, so when asked Bhat whether he is ready for being compared with Dilip Kumar and Shah Rukh Khan, he said, “See.. there will not be bigger actor than Dilip saab (Dilip Kumar) and Shah Rukh Khan is also a superstar but where it has written that if these two actors have done this film then others should not feature in it. Today, I am making film on ‘Devdas’ and tomorrow some other actor will attempt it. Whenever a film has made on ‘Devdas’ then it has worked which means there is something in this story that people are making it again and again and then also it is working.”
“As far as ‘Daas Dev’ is concerned, it is not exactly based on ‘Dev Daas’ original story because it’s a reverse journey of my character Dev from Daas to Dev. In this film, Sudhir Mishra has picked characters from Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s Devdas but while writing this film, he has added William Shakespeare element in it so, the whole outcome is something different that’s why it is not exactly based on Devdas. It is good for me that I will be compared with good actor after this film’s release. If people would have compared me with bad actors then it would have been upsetting. I respect actors who have played this character and I can only say that I have tried my level best to do justice for this role”
Talking about promotional song ‘Rangdari’ from ‘Daas Dev’, Bhat said, “The song for which we are shooting is titled ‘Rangdari’. It’s a promotional video for ‘Daas Dev’. This song will feature me, Richa Chadha and music director Arko (Mukherjee). Generally, in Sudihr Mishra’s film there are no promotional songs as they are in realistic zone but this time, this film is bit commercial so we thought to shoot promotional song for it.”
Talking about his experience working with Richa Chadha in ‘Daas Dev’, Bhat said, “Richa is fantastic actress. We all know she has worked in many films and it has been appreciated. We had lot of fun shooting for the film. We shot this film around 60 days in Lucknow and it was really good time”
When asked Bhat whether he thinks he is favorite of many filmmaker including Sudhir Mishra, he said, “This is my first film with (Sudhir Mishra) him. If Anurag Kashyap, Sudhir Mishra, Gattu (Abhishek Kapoor) and Prakash Jha trust me as an actor then I am really happy that I am their favorite”
When asked Bhat is he keen to do biopic like his co-star Richa Chadha who is working in the biopic of Malayalam actress Shakeela, he said, “Definitely, I would like to do biopic. I want to each kind of role whether its comedy or mainstream cinema. I am here to work and anyone will offer good work to me then I am ready to do it”
Daas Dev is an upcoming romantic political thriller directed by Sudhir Mishra, starring Rahul Bhat as Dev Pratap Chauhan, Richa Chadda as Paro, Aditi Rao Hydari as Chandni, and Saurabh Shukla, Dalip Tahil, Anil George, Deepraj Rana, Saurabh Tyagi, Anurag Kashyap and Vineet Kumar Singh in pivotal role.
The film is scheduled for release on 20 April 2018.
