Actor Ayushmann Khurrana, who will be seen playing the role of an IPS officer in forthcoming Article 15, says he has tried to keep his cop avatar in real zone.
Filmmaker Anubhav Sinha and Ayushmann Khurrana hosted a media interaction in Mumbai for forthcoming social drama Article 15.
Talking about his role in the film and how it is different than Simmba and Singham, Ayushmaan said, “There are different kinds of police officers. I am not a SHO in the film; I am playing an IPS officer in the film. So the requirement and poise of that is different, even the preparation of it is different and the subject of the film is very real and it’s been inspired from some real issues”
“As far as preparing for the cop role, I’ve a lot of IPS friends; I’ve not taken any film reference, I haven’t watched any Bollywood film for the preparation of the role, I have tried to keep in a very real zone” added actor.
The trailer of Article 15 received mixed response, certain segment of audience enjoyed it but certain segment feels targeted by the film.
Talking about it, Ayushmann said, “Our country is a unique county, and all kind of people live here and we’ll are very sensitive as well. We’re proud of ourselves and we’re proud communities, because we’re so depressed in real life that we need something to pride upon. But the objective of this film is to make everyone proud of the nation, continue improving it”
“And yes certain segment of society has been offended by the film but once they watch it, they would realize we have not offended anyone. We have not targeted any particular community in the film” added actor.
Article 15 is an upcoming crime thriller film directed by Anubhav Sinha produced by Zee Studios and Benaras Media Works. The film is written by Gaurav Solanki and Anubhav Sinha.
It stars Ayushmann Khurrana, Isha Talwar, Sayani Gupta, Kumud Mishra and Manoj Pahwa. The film is based on Article 15 of the Indian Constitution, which prohibits discrimination on grounds of religion, race, caste, sex or place of birth.
Article 15 takes inspiration from true life events, including 2014 Badaun gang rape allegations and 2016 Una flogging incident.
Ayushmann Khurrana, the protagonist, is playing a police officer in the film. The film has been selected as the opening film for the 10th edition of London Indian Film Festival to be premiered on 20 June. Later it is scheduled for theatrical release in India on 28 June.
