If you are a coffee addict whose day begins with a shot of caffeine and who is, more or less, addicted to the stuff, then you definitely know what happens once you have had too much coffee – you are on caffeine high. This might induce hyperactivity, bright eyes and a wide grin. Before you start wondering what you are reading, let me tell you. Yesterday, we were all treated to a similar kind of high, but this one was induced by Karan Johar – the best celebrity host in town. Yesterday, one of the best episodes from the second season of Koffee with Karan was aired and it was a blast!
First of all, the guests were simply too god to be true – there was Kajol, Rani Mukherjee AND Shahrukh Khan. You need not be Einstein to figure out that this was Karan Johar’s extended family on the show, so things are definitely going to be a lot funnier, kinkier and hilarious.
As Kajol came on first, you could see that she was her usual breezy self. She seemed quite comfortable in her trendy outfit and looks like a million bucks. Outspoken and in-your-face Kajol has not changed much, but she seemed happy to be amongst friends.
The next guest was a surprise. Though she is Kajol’s cousin, they are not exactly close. The media has spread rumors that the rivalry between the two is ripe. Still, when Rani Mukherjee came on the set, their was no hair pulling. They both confessed to not being exactly close, but hit out at the accusations of rivalry. Rani looked the part in a really classy dress, but seemed to settle, smiling prettily most of the time.
The next guest was the real winner in yesterday’s episode as without him, it would have been quite a drag. Still touted as the best hero in Bollywood, one could see why the King Khan has retained that status with his charisma. Everything and everyone was discussed yesterday- Ajay Devgan, Mr. Bachchan, Abhi-Ash (that’s actually a word now!), Omkara…whew! It was a talkathon. But more often than not, we saw the host steering the conversation towards his last film which bombed-KANK. They actually dissected he film on a sociological level yesterday. Ok Karan, it does not always have to be a hit you know…
Anyway, the fun just compounded towards the rapid fire round. Kajol did not even put up a fight and mainly took potshots at Karan. Maybe she was trying not to win the hamper because of a diet or something. Then, it was Rani’s turn and though she was real quick, she was diplomatic to the level that it made you want to puke. Honestly, she was asked to imagine that the three of them were on a plane about to crash and she had only two parachutes. What would she do? She said, like a true beauty pageant finalist, that she would give the parachutes to the other two. A tad too much, don’t you think?
But Shahrukh took the cake and the hamper (which he was very possessive about) with his completely whacked out answers. It was superb. But that was not all. He was then put in the “hot seat” a la KBC style and had to answer questions posed by the other three present. He got al but one! Simply amazing. All in all, a true entertainer. If Koffee is like this, we sure want more!
