Miss Universe turned actress, Lara Dutta was spotted at the launch of Reset fitness center here in Mumbai. During her media interaction, Lara spoke about on-going tussle of Karni Sena and Padmavati, stating that industry need filmmaker like Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
“Padmavati is one project, which has to face a lot of issues but in larger scape of things, it is one film. But it shouldn’t stop filmmaker like him and we need strong filmmaker’s like Sanjay Leela, and the industry behind him, to allow him to make films without being dictated by political factions” said Lara Dutta.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali has faced quite a lot of trouble from Karni Sena, during production and now with film release. The issue has raised debate about Freedom of Expression in Bollywood.
Lara Dutta believes there is a lot of freedom in Industry but there will always be little trouble causing faction and groups.
“Mostly in our industry everyone has a lot of freedom. There will always be little factions or groups, who will pick something or the other out to create problems, but I think by and large, the industry has enjoyed a lot of freedom to make films and you can see that, like Lipstick Under My Burkha would have released some five years ago, they would never have gotten the reception or response they got. Change is there but small things we always have to battle with”
“There will be small factions that who are wanting to cause trouble; they will always remain there to cause trouble. There will be people with opinions as to what is right or wrong?, but today, at the end of the day, cinema is not governed by any political party, it is not dictated by any kind of society, it is only free thinking medium” added Lara.
Lara Dutta is more than hundred precent sure that when the film release, everyone will be proud of it.
“Issues will arise, but when Padmavati releases, there is already so much buzz about its trailer, I am hundred percent sure that Sanjay Leela Bhansali, will be proud of what he has put out on screen, as well as the industry and everyone else” added Lara.
Lara also said that she has seen the trailer and can’t wait for the movie. The movie stars Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, is slated for 1st December release.
