Most of the times it is difficult to break into film industry says Radhika Apte

Actress Radhika Apte, who has become a prominent face in digital platform, has said that most of the times it is difficult to break in the film industry and she stated that digital platform can give opportunity to aspiring actors, filmmakers and technicians in quick period.

Radhika Apte was interacting with media when Tata Sky launched short format content with London’s Shorts TV along with actress Shweta Rohira on Tuesday in Mumbai.

Radhika Apte belonged to family of doctors and she made her Hindi film debut in Onir’s directorial ‘I Am’. Slowly and steadily, she went to become part of successful films like ‘Badlapur’, ‘Hunterrr’, Manjhi – The Mountain Man’, ‘Pad Man’ and ‘Andhdhun’.

She became prominent face of digital platform when she garnered acclaimed for her short film like ‘Ahalya’ and ‘That Day After Everyday’ and Netflix web series ‘Sacred Games’ and ‘Ghoul’.

Talking about how digital medium is huge advantage for aspiring actors, filmmakers and technicians, Radhika said, “It’s really good platform for actors, technicians and whole crew because it is difficult to break into films industry most of the times but digital platform and also short films can give them opportunity quicker and it’s also generating lot of employment on many levels.”

Talking about TATA sky’s new venture, Radhika said, “They are doing something really incredible by launching a channel. It is sort of going to give so much exposure to short filmmakers and to take that platform on a new level. It will encourage people to make short films, get involved in that medium and make it lucrative as well.”

Radhika added that there isn’t much risk involved in short film format so people can experiment on it, she said, “Short film is a medium where there is not so much at risk so, one can really experiment and one can do a lot more things that they probably not necessarily get the opportunity to do it in a feature film so, I am glad it’s a platform which we are recognizing again in India after a long time therefore, I am pleased that they (TATA sky) are doing this and I am here to support them.”

Radhika Apte next will be seen in Pia Sukanya’s ‘Bombairiya’ along with along with Akshay Oberoi, Siddhanth Kapoor, Ravi Kishan, Adil Hussain, Ajinkya Deo and Amit Sial.
