November 22. 2010 : Guzaarish is a movie which can be termed as a big dazzling emotional experience and such another film cannot be seen in this year, opines film critic and writer Subhash K Jha. We all have to agree with him once we watch the wonderful presentation of filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who has put life in the almost dying character of Ethan, played by Hrithik Roshan.
In this wonderful piece of artwork, you will witness the life of magician Ehtan full of spirit and eyes full of hopes even though his body is suffering from ‘Quadriplegia’ following the failure of his trick. He explores the mysterious journey towards death and how a person embraces mortality.
According to Subhash, the inexpressible pain of solitude has been wonderfully portrayed by Bhansali through Hrithik’s character. Ethan has the potential and zeal to look at his sufferings with composed humor. Jha says that the movie celebrates life with ecstatic joy as the quadriplegic Ethan’s spirit dances and sings and enjoys every moment of his life. His character will make you feel how great it feels to be blessed with the thought of being alive.
Ethan’s eyes lit up with whenever his nurse Sophia (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan) comes in front of him and they share a delicate and unspoken pain of a love, which is captured so beautifully by Bhansali. The quiet grace of the beauty queen has been presented with much intelligence and spontaneity.
Each song communicates the emotions of the characters including that of Ethan, who smiles even when he is suffering the extraordinary tragedy. The soulful numbers touches our heart and souls. Cinematographer Sudeep Chatterjee has come out of the dazzling shots of Devdas to offer much delicate and subtle appearance in Guzaarish.
