Akshay and Sanjay Leela Bhansali organized for a combined press conference to talk about the release of both films on Friday. During interaction Bhansali said, The fraternity will be proud of what Akshay has done today.
On Sanjay Leela bhansali’s request, Akshay Kumar decided to postpone the release of his upcoming film, Pad Man to 9th Feb.
Sanjay while at the conference said he is grateful for Akshay’s gesture, “This is how we are with each other, and we stand by and respect each other. I think the fraternity will be proud of what Akshay has done today. It is a gesture which I think would otherwise seem quite impossible in the industry.”
“Akshay is aware of all the situations we have been through and without any delay, Akshay said, ‘whatever and however you want we can do it. I am here to support you.’ And I think to do something one needs a large heart, to be able to exude so much goodness. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I am very grateful to him for what he has done.” He added.
Padmaavat, previously titled Padmavati, was passed by the Censor Board earlier this month with five edits. The film, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, was originally scheduled to release last month had to be postponed after its application for certification was rejected, and it received backlash from the Rajput community. The latest development in the Padmaavat row was the Supreme Court lifting the ban placed on the film by a few Indian states.
The Pad Man hero said he believes, “There is no point in clashing the releases I completely understand that Sanjay sir needs this date for release more than I do. We decided to postpone the film. I am very thankful to my studio, Sony, and KriArj Entertainment for accepting my request.”
PadMan, co-starring Sonam Kapoor, and Radhika Apte, will now release on February 9 and not January 25 the release date of Padmaavat.
Pad Man is presented by Columbia Pictures, Hope Productions, KriArj Entertainment and Mrs Funnybones Movies.
