On Friday, Vivek Oberoi, Angad Bedi ,Richa Chadhha, Sarah Jane Dias, Tanuj Virwani, Farhan Akhtar, Ritesh Sidhwani and Sayani Gupta was present at the trailer launch Amazon Prime India’s first web series ‘Inside Edge’ in Mumbai. During the media interaction, Vivek stated that Inside Edge will explore some unknown facts about the world of cricket and the game behind game is really fascinating which has shown in this web series.
Vivek Oberoi plays character of Vikrant Dhawan , who is founder of the cricket league, When asked about the show, he said, “When we watch cricket , somebody or the other always says that certain match is fixed so there is always curiosity about that. In this show, there is complete exploration of the whole journey. Through this show, we have shown that, how betting starts and how it takes place through various junctures and how people who are involved in it. The really fascinating thing about this show is that it explores game behind the game and the world it creates and allures the audience”
When we see the trailer, it is evident that the character of Vivek Oberoi is inspired from Indian Premiere League founder Lalit Modi who has been running away from India for alleged financial irregularities in IPL, when asked about that, Vivek Said “This character is not based on anyone’s life. We have taken inspirations form cricket league around the world and that’s how we have created certain characters in the series and mine is one of them. He is mastermind and he handles the entire game in terms of betting, bookies, scandals. He is the most negative and dominating character of Inside Edge.”
He also talked about his experience working with Excel Entertainment which is owned by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, he said, “It’s great when you work with company like Excel, they are the pioneers and they always roads to whole new kind of content. They always been reinventing themselves and working with brand like Amazon was no brainer for me. I loved the script and essence of my character so I had loads of fun doing it”
Vivek Oberoi’s Bank Chor released yesterday under the banner of Yash Raj films and he already did a successful film them Sathiya in the past, when asked working with them, he said, “I always had great working relationship with Yash Raj and now with Excel Entertainment and now I hope that Excel will cast me in their next future as well”.
Inside Edge is set in the world of T20 cricket, and the tagline ‘Witness the game, behind the game’ raises expectations with the promise of showing viewers what the T20 tournament, one of the most popular, looks like from the inside.
Created by Karan Anshuman, it will be presented by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. It will shed light on the lesser-known aspects of the game, like locker room sex, spot fixing and internal politics, but it remains to be seen exactly how much of the content will surprise viewers.
The castt of Inside Edge also includes Angad Bedi, Tanuj Virwani , Siddhanth Chaturvedi, Sarah Jane Dias, Richa Chaddha, Sayani Gupta and Amit Sial.
Inside Edge begins streaming on Amazon Prime on July 10.
