“War Chhod Na Yaar”, director Faraz Haider’s attempt at a new genre – war comedy – has received “an average response” from the audience in its opening weekend, say trade experts. The film, which released Oct 11, witnessed some growth in its opening weekend.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh said that in three days of its release, the movie has seen “marginal growth”. Adarsh posted on Twitter:
‘War Chhod Na Yaar’ collected approximately Rs. 4.50 crore net in its opening weekend. On Friday (it earned) Rs.1.30 crore, Saturday Rs.1.50 crore, Sunday Rs.1.70 crore.
According to Prasanth Narayanan, director at AOPL Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. which has produced the film, the movie was made on a budget of Rs.14 crore. Released in 754 screens in India, the movie also hit screens in some parts of the Middle East and Malaysia. The makers are hopeful that the response to the film will improve over the week.
I think the movie will pick up in the coming days.
Narayanan told IANS.
However, Bollywood’s last big release – Abhinav Kashyap-directed “Besharam” – which was released Oct 2 has failed to evoke the desired response. Made on a budget of Rs.60 crore plus, “Besharam” crashed completely, said Adarsh.
It has collected approximately Rs.3.10 crore net in weekend two. Grand total is Rs.58.46 crore net. Flop.
A source from a leading multiplex chain also said that “Besharam” didn’t put up even an average performance.
