Adults cause pollution but when it comes to cleaning we leave it to kids: Juhi Chawla

Published on

Actress Juhi Chawla attended the ‘Plastic Free Cuffe Parade’ walk on Sunday along with Champa Ganguli, Hansu Pardiwala, Kunti Oza, and Padmakar Nandekar, members of the Cuffe Parade Residents Association (CPRA). During her media interaction, she said how come we leave all the cleaning up to the kids.

Juhi praised the decision of banning the plastic bags in Maharashtra and she raised some reasonable question of concern she said “I am very happy that I interacted with the kids today but we are the ones, who cause pollution and garbage. But when it comes to cleaning it up, we have left it to kids of the world. I hope they understand the importance of what are they are doing so that they can continue doing it. Today, I came here to make children understand why this is important”

‘Plastic Free Cuffe Parade’ walk was a CPRA citizen’s Initiative conducted by CPRA Waste Management Committee, organized by Clean Mumbai Foundation, Hari Dharti Eco Solutions & Garbage Free India.

The walk was attended by School Kids from G.D. Somani and other schools in the area along with Members of CPRA Committee, ROTARY CLUB OF BOMBAY and the Cuffe Parade Residents

The actress further added, “I am happy that it started and it should grow. When I heard about Maharashtra Government and BMC, has taken the decision that by next Gudi Padwa, all plastic bags will be banned, it made me very happy”

Juhi Chawla added that she has good reasons to go against plastic, as it causes more harm and usefulness.

“In 2014, Supreme Court did an observation that if plastic bags are not banned or manufacturers didn’t take the plastic bag and did something with it, the harmful effects would be so severe, it will be worse than an atom bomb. This is a huge issue, don’t just think this is garbage; this is poisonous garbage, which has piled up so much in the environment that not just Maharashtra but the entire world is planning to do something about it. Recently Kenya banned the plastic bags throughout the country” added Juhi.

Chawla also spoke about “Citizens of Tomorrow” and “Swach Bharat” initiative. She said, “Join ‘Citizens for Tomorrow’ and together we will tackle this issue and make our country clean. And if Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji has said, Swach Bharat, then we will do it”

To support this, ROTARY Club of Bombay has generously donated a PET bottle flaking machine, A Standee with a message for Plastic Free Cuffe Parade for all Cuffe Parade buildings & a tricycle to collect PET bottles from the buildings.
