Akshay Kumar was spotted at ‘Walk for Health’ initiative on Sunday to promote his upcoming film ‘Pad Man‘. The actor thanked the industry for showing their support for the film and its cause.
As part of promotional and to spread awareness the makers of Padman created the Padman Challenge where the tagged person has to post a picture holding a sanitary pad to show his support. When asked how Akshay feels about the industry’s support he said, “We are all one family, this industry. I am thankful to all the industry people for showing support through the Padman challenge. It isnt just the governement of the industry the whole country supports the cause. And it is an important cause to be suporrte dby all of us.”
On World Cancer Awareness Day the actor flagged off a morning walkathon from the SNDT University’s Juhu campus to Juhu beach. The event presented by Max Bupa also formally introduced the concept of Power Walking for health to local citizens with a 7-km power walk race to the beach.
While talking about an association with Max Bupa, he said, “I think it is a great thing that every year Max Bupa hosts this campaign in different cities. They create awareness about how walking an hour a day keeps you healthy. There are many benefits like it keeps you away from Alzheimer’s, the possibility of stroke, among other benefits. I congratulate Max Bupa for doing this.”
For the benefit of the huge crowd gathered, Kumar demonstrated the skill on a treadmill-like machine that also generated electricity from the energy released by him.
‘Pad Man’ is based on Arunachalam Muruganantha’s struggle and success to spread awareness about menstrual hygiene and create affordable menstrual hygiene products. The film stars Akshay Kumar, Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor in pivotal roles.
‘Padman’ directed by R. Balki is scheduled to release on 26th Jan.
