Renowned Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap is set to explore digital space with his upcoming web-series Scared Games, says he will be exploring digital space fearlessly.
“I am going there (Digital space) fearlessly. I am quite fearless. My fears are only how good justice I will do to the material and it is my opportunity to increase my fan base too” said Anurag Kashayp during his media interaction at the show launch.
Sacred Games is based on the critically-acclaimed best-selling novel by Indian author Vikram Chandra and will be streaming on Netflix. The series will be produced in partnership with Phantom Films and helmed by two of its key stakeholders – Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane.
The two filmmakers will unite their creative energies to come up with eight episodes of this show that will star Saif Ali Khan, Radhika Apte and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the lead roles.
Talking about the pressure of web-series, which will be showcased Universally, Anurag Kashyap talked about pressure.
“Probably first time I will be reaching out to most number of people in my entire career as a filmmaker, so I am seeing like that, I see it as making a movie for the whole world and I welcome that pressure on me and I want to go with that. I see it like a movie and I enjoy it like that”
“When I make films, I’ve always tried to find a balance of what traditionally our cinema has been, struggling with how to use elements of popular cinema format within my story telling and still try to make it more universal because I’ve a larger audience outside India. So I’d always struggled because I had to balance but that pressure is less here” added Anurag.
Set in Mumbai, Sacred Games delves into the city’s intricate web of organized crime, corruption, politics and espionage that lie beneath India’s economic renaissance. It is an epic masterwork of exceptional richness and power that interweaves the lives of the privileged, the famous, the wretched and the bloodthirsty.
