Rahul Bhat who is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film, ‘Union Leader’ was present at a promotional press conference on Thursday. During media interaction he said, he was scared after reading the film’s script for the first time.
The ‘Ugly’ famed actor Rahul stated he wasn’t all for his character in Union Leader. He said, “When I first read the script I was a little scared, I didn’t know how it would be possible for me to play this character. But Sanjay sir had a lot of faith in me so; I thought why not take the leap o faith. Since the role was of a mill worker a lot of people suggested look changes and complexion changes but I believe acting is beyond looks and complexion.”
Talking about the film Union Leader and director Sanjay Patel, Rahul said, “I am very proud to be associated with ‘Union Leader. This film is Sanjay sir’s sincere effort. This isn’t a regular film with the leads singing songs and dancing, not that they are bad films but it isn’t easy to present a film with as a story like this.”
When asked if Union leader is a way of breaking his typecast, he said, “The beauty of acting is in the fact that you can play different characters. Of course, this was a very difficult character for me. It is the complete opposite of what I am in life. In ugly the character was different too but still, I was aware of what to do. Here I had no idea whatsoever.”
Union Leader has already been accepted by several film festivals, including the Hof International Film Festival in Germany and the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival in Florida. It was also screened at Goa film festival.
Written, directed and produced by Sanjay Patel, the film stars Rahul Bhat, Tillotama Shome, Jayesh More, Samvedna Suwalka, and Jay Vithlani.
