Bollywood rejoices over Rahman’s double Oscar whammy

 A.R.Rahman

We spoke to few big names in Bollywood who gave us their response about A.R. Rahman’s emphatic feat of winning two Oscar awards. Following are the excerpts: Udit Narayan – Rahman has always been a musical genius. It is just that world has woke up to this fact very late now. But as they say better late than never, he has finally made it big in the international arena. I consider myself honoured to have got a chance to work under him repeatedly.

Anu Malik – It’s a great feeling for India and Indian people. We have finally struck the Oscars with not just one award but four of them. I think this will open doors for new young singers, sound designers and all the technicians of India. With Rahman’s victory, people from the west will eye talent here. There is ample of it in India. Rahman has already worked his way to the top. He has got tremendous knowledge about cinema and he has always been encouraging different singers and new comers. He does not stick to the normal formula of Mukhda and antara. He has used technology as a great tool. He’s worked with Baz Luhrmann during Moulin Rouge. Baz infact used my sound Chamma Chamma but didn’t give me credit. This is an ecstatic moment for us. I can’t describe it in workes. It feels great for everybody there Anil Kapoor, Resul Pookutty, Danny Boyle and the little children who worked in the film. I cheered them when I watched the Oscars this morning. I had tears in my eyes when he spoke about his mother. May he achieve many more such awards and may others from India win it too.

Rakeysh Mehra – I have worked with him on my last two projects and have seen from close quarters how much dedication and hard work he puts in for each song. Apart from being a music maestro he is a wonderful human being as well.

Prasoon Joshi – I consider myself fortunate to have worked with him on so many projects now. He has made us Indians proud and brought the focus of International filmmakers on Indian talent.

Ila Arun – A real talent always gets its due even if its late. Rahman has shown to the world what Indian musicians are capable of.
