Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi denies the rumours of Deepika Padukone auditioning for the role in “Beyond The Clouds” at the trailer launch of film.
News was viral that Deepika Padukone auditioned for “Beyond The Clouds” but due to some reasons the role went to newbie Malavika Mohanan, but that is not the case, clarifies the Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi on the sidelines of the trailer launch.
Talking about Deepika Padukone at the trailer launch, Majid Majidi replied, “I want to specially thank Deepika Padukone, she gave her inputs on this film. When we invited her, it is not for the casting, but to put in the situation and get the feeling of the film. She was very humble about it. At the time, for different reasons the collaboration couldn’t happen but would surely want to work with her in future”
Last year, the paparazzi spotted Deepika Padukone in the ragged clothes auditioning for Majid’s film in the busy streets of Mumbai’s slum areas. But then, she wasn’t finalised for the role and Malavika was selected to play the lead.
The Trailer of Beyond The Clouds is out, the movie stars South Indian actor Malavika Mohanan and debutant Ishaan Khatter in the lead roles.
Beyond The Clouds marks the first ever film by Majid Majidi in India. Talking about his reasons for making a film in India, the director said, “It was one of the main reasons that I decided to make a film in India. Sometimes I believe that I am more famous in India rather than my own country. I have a huge fan base in India and Asia. So thank you to all my fans for the support”
Further adding Majid said, “There is huge population of Iranians’, who live in India. Those people are in India for a very long time. There are many similarities between Iran and India”
