Dharmendra: A He Man Cannot Afford To Be Old!

Published on

December 30, 2010 : Bollywood veteran Dharmendra, who has recently completed and celebrated the platinum jubilee of his life and golden jubilee in Bollywood, says that he was once tagged as the ‘He Man’ so this does allow him to grow old. The actor asks jokingly, ‘can a He Man afford to grow old’?

At 75, still ‘Garam Dharam’ is young at heart and dances with his sons Sunny and Bobby Deol with same enthusiasm in their upcoming comedy film Yamla Pagla Deewana. The veteran star further says that as per the popular saying ‘horses and men never grow old’ and he is among those men, who never grow old.

Dharmendra says that his soul is still very innocent like a mischievous kid and that reflects on his face. We have seen him entertaining the audiences with all genres of movies in these 50 years and now he is back with yet another rib tickling comedy with his sons. Yamla Pagla Deewana is all set to hit the big screens of January 14 and the Deol family is keeping their fingers crossed.

The man, who made everyone go crazy with his funny acts in Sholay, says that they were in search of a good script for his comeback after the failure of their film Apne in 2007. Dharmendra further says that the director Samir Karnik was initially planning the film with only Sunny and Bobby with the title Double Trouble. But as the title was already given to someone else, they had to think something else. At that time, Dharmendra jokingly suggested that why don’t they go for ‘Triple Double’ so that he can also join his sons? The idea suddenly clicked Sunny and they made little bit of changes in the script to include Dharmendra in the casting.

Yamla Pagla Deewana is the story of a Sikh man living in Canada. When he comes to know that his father and brother are still alive and they live in Benares, he starts a journey back home to unite the family. Bobby and Dharmendra share a very friendly relation in the film and he even calls his dad by his first name.

We wish Dharmendra really makes a bang with the film and ‘Garam Dharam’ gives the first blockbuster of the year 2011!
