Diljit Dosanjh is all set to show a side of him, the singer-turned-actor is all set to portray hockey legend Sandeep Singh in an upcoming film titled Soorma, which is directed by Shaad Ali.
Diljit just took to his social media account and released the official poster of the film. He captioned it, “A hockey stick and a bullet…One gave direction to his life while the other changed it forever! #SOORMA – The greatest comeback story ever! 29th June @sonypicsprodns @taapsee @Imangadbedi @Flicker_Singh @SnehaRajani @IChitrangda @shaadesh @thecsfilms”
In the poster, Diljit completely in his character but he presents two versions of Sandeep – one the aggressive player who is ready to take on the rival team and on the other hand, we see him seated in a wheelchair.
Sandeep Singh is an ace hockey player and ex-captain of the Indian National Team. In 2006, Singh was seriously injured after being hit by an accidental gunshot in a train, while on his way to join the national team, set to leave for the World Cup in Germany two days later. He was almost paralyzed and was in the wheelchair for two years. Singh not only recovered from that serious injury but also established himself again in the team.
The movie also stars Taapsee Pannu, Angad Bedi and Chitrangada Singh in lead roles. This is for the first time when Diljit will be sharing screen space with Taapsee Pannu, who proved herself to be a commercially viable actor with her latest outing Judwaa 2.
The movie is currently slated for 29 June 2018 release.
