Singer and Composer Shankar Mahadevan attended promotional press conference of his upcoming singing reality show ‘Rising Star’ on Tuesday in Mumbai. During media interaction, Mahadevan stated that format of ‘Rising Star’ is its biggest plus point.
Talking about collaborating with ‘Rising Star’s second season, Mahadevan said, “We never thought that it would get so much demand from the audience that we have to do second season of it. I really thank Colors (Channel) and Optimystix (production company) for making this happen because it happens when we get demand. This show is in demand because it’s a great singing show, there is amazing talent in the show and we all are there as a jury member but the biggest plus point of the show is its format. The way this show has conceived and presented that kind of a show does not exists in today’s Indian television. This kind of live streaming we have only seen in sports tournaments and this doesn’t happens in musical events so , this is a unique, path breaking show where audience can get involved in the show, when people vote their favorite contestants, they get to see constant result on television not like other show where you know results after 5 days. In this show audience gets instant gratification”
Talking about working with team of ‘Rising Star’, Mahadevan said, “I am so excited to be working with entire team. We have Diljit (Dosanjh) and Monali Thakur), we had developed such a beautiful chemistry in its first season so after coming back in this season we will do lots of fun. The whole team of Colors and Optimystix are really professional and the way they executed it is fantastic. This show duration is for one hour but for that one hour we have to prepare for that entire day because in such kind of show precision is really important, everything has to be by the minute. Here, judges can’t give their feedback for ten minutes otherwise whole scheduling and timing of the show will go for toss so you have to be precise. We have our new anchor Ravi Dubey, we are so happy to have him on this show. I think it’s going to be great experience, level of singers are really great because of wider reach this time around. We have contestant in this across all age groups right from kids to elders. I think it’s a great platform which will inspire people to achieve their dreams”
When asked Mahadevan on which criteria he will be judging contestants in the show, he said, “First of all, we will judge them on the basis of Sur and Taal, it is not a rocket science apart from that, as a composer, I am looking for a singer who will add value to my composition and if you are there then you are rising star for me, you need not to be a winner”
‘Rising Star 2’ is a concept where the focus lies entirely on the talent and skill of the contestant. With no barriers to age or background, the show is open for participation be it a solo, duet and group/ band performance. It is their voice and their ability to entertain and engage audiences live which will earn them national glory; every vote in their support holds the power to change their fate instantaneously. Supported real-time by Voot, Viacom18’s Video-on- demand platform for live voting, and with viewer engagement at its peak, Rising Star 2 will rely on the Indian audience to choose their favorite aspiring singer irrespective of their background.
Apart from, Shankar Mahadevan, Diljit Dosanjh and Monali Thakur are other jury members in ‘Rising Star’.
Produced by Optimystix Entertainment, the show will go on air on January 20 every Saturday and Sunday at 9.00 pm on Colors (channel).
