Gautam Adhikari, one of the founders of the oldest television production houses, Shri Adhikari Brothers, has passed away due to a heart attack at the age of 67.

Raza Murad who knew and worked with him for 27 years while talking about him said, Gautam was a magician, “I feel like this is one my greatest losses. I knew him since 27 years. He wasn’t just a director he was a magician. He used to create such magic through the camera in his work. He was a great craftsman better yet I would like to say he was like an encyclopedia.

“I haven’t seen anyone else who was as knowledgeable as him.He used to make one episode in one shift with great content. He was truly gifted. I wish him best in the afterlife, may god help him rest in Peace.” said the actor on Friday.

Ramesh Bhatkar also expressed his condolences and grief, he said “Whatever I am today in the industry Hindi and Marathi it is because of Gautam. He was a very dear friend of mine, we used to work together but our friendship was something different. I can’t believe that he isn’t with us anymore. He created his own style, his work was a benchmark for others, and people now follow his techniques and his methods.

Gautam survived by wife Ranjana and two children – a son and a daughter. His last rites were performed in Vile Parle suburban area of Mumbai.

Gautam wore the director’s hat and helmed many serials in Marathi and Hindi, including Hello Inspector, Commandar, Marshall, Silsila and Waqt Ki Raftar etc. His name has also been listed in the Limca Books of Records 1999 for “directing maximum episodes”.
