Kangana Ranaut, Hansal Mehta and Bhushan Kumar attended trailer launch of their upcoming film Simran on Tuesday in Mumbai. While interacting with media, Kangana was all praises for her director Hansal Mehta stating that he had universal language of cinema.
Hansal Mehta has directed some critically acclaimed films like Shahid, Aligarh and Citylights, when asked Kangana experience working with Mehta, she said, “Hansal Mehta is great director because more often people misunderstand the job of director as they think it is like dictating, someone who tells actor how to act or others crew members how to do their job on set. I feel more than that director is guiding force. I haven’t see monitor after the shot in this film because it’s a relationship which you build with each other. Hansal sir has universal language of cinema, his cinema is very subtle and I have different sensibilities when it comes to depicting a certain story. He never enacted a scene to me before any short and we never interrupted each other’s creative process because I feel the best directors I have worked with are like that only as they give you required material and let you interpret it”.
Talking about story and character in Simran, Kangana said, “This is coming off age film. It’s a slice of life kind of very light hearted take on people who never give up. It’s a story of girl who works in housekeeping department and she belongs to so called grass root level of society but her dreams are high. She wants to belong and she thinks she deserves what she thinks of so it’s just ode to that spirit.’
When asked her whether you relate with this character in your personal life, she said, “I am like this girl on many levels. You have to lend part of your personality to play certain character. There is one thing about this character that whatever place she belongs to but she wants to make that her own place.”
“I call my life pursuit of magic. The only difference that I realized that magic in one audition of Gangster, but Praful (Her character name) never did. She makes equal amount of effort and she has same spirit, ambitions but somehow she never had that stroke of luck. For me, it was nice alternate life I could have if not this so it was enlightening experience for me as a person”.
Simran is produced by Bhushan Kumar and Amit Agarwal . It is releasing on 15 September, 2017.
