April 21, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Kites have been making news for almost a year now. The Hrithik Roshan-Barbara Mori starrer is without a doubt the most awaited films this year. It’s been in the public eye for reports about the alleged romance between the lead pair, its repercussions on Hrithik’s married life, his first international venture……the list goes on. But a recent uproar was caused when the film’s climax was revealed in the media.

A couple of days ago, the newspapers had run stories saying that Kites would have a tragic ending. The two lead characters, played by Hrithik and Barbara were shown committing suicide. The news was met with dismay by the audiences, especially Hrithik’s fans. Kites is being promoted as a love-story with a difference. Hrithik plays an Indian salsa instructor and Barbara, his Mexican student. The message given out was that love transcends language barriers! Naturally people had not expected it to have an Ek Duje Ke liye kind of climax.

However, director Anurag Basu has lashed out, claiming that these rumours are false. He strongly denied that the above version was the ending of Kites, saying that it has another end altogether. He reportedly said that such rumours plant a films perception in the minds of the people, which is very disturbing. A similar incident had taken place some time back when steamy scenes from the film were leaked onto the internet. The hype surrounding the film can be attributed to the fact that this is the Hrithik first release in two years. His fans can rejoice as the star, reportedly will not be dying in the movie!
