Filmmaker Omung Kumar and actor Sharad Kelkar attended ‘Raasleela 2017’ Dandiya event in suburban area of Mumbai on Saturday to promote their recently released film Bhoomi. In media interaction, Omung Kumar stated that he is confident that his film Bhoomi will do well at the box office.
‘Bhoomi’ released in theatres along with Rajkummar Rao’s ‘Newton’ and Shraddha Kapoor’s ‘Haseena Parkar’ but it received mixed reviews from audience, talking about it, Omung said, “The response is slow for the film, it’s a subject based film so with word of mouth collection of the film is increasing and people are liking it and I am 100 % sure that Bhoomi will do well at the box office”
Talking about Dandiya event, Omung said, “It’s an auspicious day. We also used to play lot of Dandiya during Navratri festival. Our movie is released on 1st day of Navratri which is considered as very auspicious day so I hope that more and more people will go to watch our film. It’s a really nice film based on father-daughter relationship. We worship goddess Durga and Lakshmi on this occasion so similarly, the girl in our film rise above all odds so I hope people will be able to connect with the message which we are trying to give with this film”
Omung also commented on ‘Newton’ declared as India’s official entry at the Oscars, he said, “This is fantastic news. Basically, I know Rajkummar really well so I wish him all the luck for his film. It’s a fantastic film and obviously when a good movie goes to Oscar then entire country feels happy. I hope the team of Newton comes back to India with an Oscar”
Sharad Kelkar who is playing negative lead in Bhoomi talked about the film, he said, “Our film Bhoomi is very relevant with Navratri festival. In our film there is dialogue that ‘earlier there was saying that ‘save the water and now it has become save the daughter’ so through our film we tried to give message that we should change our outlooks as society towards women”
“It’s our responsibility to empower and protect them, I feel if judicial system of our country lacks somewhere while giving justice to women then it is our responsibility as a society to teach lesson to criminals. We often throw rape victims out of our system but I feel instead of throwing them we should punish criminals who commits such grave offence against women and that is exactly what message of our film”
“We have worked really hard for the film. The film has really good message and performances of Sanjay sir and Aditi is really good so I urge audience to come and watch our film”
Bhoomi had a jump when compared to first day’s collection and earned Rs 2.47 crore on its second day. It had opened at Rs 2.25 crore. The total collection now stands at Rs 4.72 crore.
