Actress Vidya Balan attended The Outlook Business Women of Worth Awards on Thursday in Mumbai. While interacting with media, Vidya stated shelf life of actress is not short.

When asked her how she has been treated in the industry over the years and whether she felt any kind sexism in the industry, Vidya said, “It’s been wonderful to me. I have detected how people will treat me. I feel I am just headstrong or strong willed but industry can be extremely sexist and in the initial phase, I experienced some amount of sexism and at that time I used to get angry when people used to tell me to plan or adjust your shooting dates according to ‘his’ dates. When ‘he’ would always get bigger van and better hotel. Sometimes people also used to ask me whether you want to listen to the story of the film before singing it then I used to get very angry with it”
‘Thankfully for me, I entered in films with film like ‘Parineeta’. I also remember people used to tell me that shelf life of female actor is really short so you have to look younger and you can’t be wearing sarees and you have to be glamorous so I tried that as well but then I realised that shelf life of actor is not short and thankfully when I started to say that I can’t fit into a certain mould. I am enjoying what I am doing. I am here to become an actor so I want to do roles which challenge me as an actor then I began to be in a happier person”
Talking about promoting ‘Tumhari Sulu’, Vidya said, “I having lot of fun while promoting the film. Sulu is such lively character so I am also keeping myself happy while promoting the film and as far as release of the film is concerned, I am not nervous at all because I have seen the film and I feel that we have made a good film.”
Ayshmann Khurranai s making special appearance in ‘Tumhari Sulu’ , talking about working experience with him, Vidya said, “It was lovely. He has also sang a song for us. We didn’t worked together earlier but I really like his work so that of course helped”
When a reporter asked him whether she will continue doing women centric films or she will lose some weights for her upcoming films, Vidya slammed him saying, “Whatever kind of work I am doing I am happy with that and if you change your point of view then it will be very nice”
