Radhika Apte who has created a name for herself with movies like Padman, Lust Stories, Phobia and more says she struggled with being called niche and indie.

Radhika Apte was interacting with media at the trailer launch of ‘Baazaar’ at the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) along with his co-actors Saif ali Khan, Chitrangada Singh, Rohan Mehra, director Gauravv K. Chawla, producers Ajit Andhare and Nikhil Advani on Tuesday.

The Netflix ‘Ghoul’ actress thanked the Baazaar Makers for having faith in her, “I have been in this industry for a little while have always struggled with being called niche and indie in many ways. So I cannot thank Nikhil (Advani ) enough for having faith in me.”

She further talked about her journey from Padman to Baazaar and said, “When you do a certain kind of film and they are successful people try to put you into boxes and it is very hard to convince people to give you a chance to try to do something drastically different. I have gone through that struggle so I am very grateful that I have been given this opportunity. So its been a great journey so far and I am excited.”

Talking about her character Priya in the film, Radhika said, “I have never played a part like this before, her name is Priya she is a stock broker. She is urban girl, knows what she is doing, is extremely independent and ambitious and this was one of the most amazing experiences to work with all of them.”

‘Baazaar’ is financial-crime drama directed by Gauravv K. Chawla, written by Nikkhil Advani, Aseem Arora and Parveez Sheikh. It stars Saif Ali Khan, debutant Rohan Mehra, Chitrangada Singh and Radhika Apte in lead roles.
