I was scared while signing Indu Sarkar says Neil Nitin Mukesh

Neil Nitin Mukesh has been getting positive reviews for his recently released film Indu Sarkar. Neil was spotted at his photo shoot on Monday in Mumbai. During interaction with media, Neil revealed that he was scared while he was signing Indu Sarkar.

In Indu Sarkar, Neil is playing character which is inspired by late Sanjay Gandhi who was younger son of India’s former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The film is set in the period of the emergency in India, i.e. the 21-month-long period from 1975 to 1977 when there was a state of emergency across the country.

When asked about what challenges he faced to perform that character, Neil said, “I am very glad that Madhur thought that I can pull of this role but I was very scared when I was signing the film especially when it happens to be related and completely in sync with real life person. “

“I feel creating fictitious characters are much easier the way I did in my films like Wazir or 7 Khoon Maaf because nobody has seen those characters in real life but to keep realistic approach and the look all these matters in film like Indu Sarkar because there is section of audience who has seen this man in person and who knows history so there would be constant comparisons and for that my body language could not be over the top and I can’t be loud as the dialogue may demand, the impact has to be created by eyes. The terror that created in that era had to create in subtle manner so I am glad that it turned out really well.”

Neil impressed the audience with his first few films but after that he lost the track but now again slowly and steadily he is again coming in the same rhythm, talking about his lowest period in between as an actor, he said, “This is my 10th year in the film industry after debuting in Johny Gaddar. Each time, I tried to present story which was different and challenged myself as an actor but there was a time when directors and audience had perception that I can’t do challenging roles and I can do only good looking hero roles so that time I got little scared therefore last year I did Wazir and this year when Madhur offered me Indu Sarkar, I quickly jumped off at the opportunity and after this I am working in Saaho along with Prabhas and in Golmaal Again so I needed variations in terms of roles because right from my first film I came here in the industry to mark my presence as actor and I am glad that things are turning good at this point of time”

Neil also talked about Indu Sarkar’s box-office collections, he said, “There are films that grow with word of mouth publicity. The upswing for our film was very encouraging. There was lot of controversy surrounding this film but eventually, film did released and we have witnessed great upswing on Saturday and Sunday. This film has been made on very concise and miniscule budget so I feel Bharat Shah and Madhur will not have any stress in terms of recovery because it’s well made film on very nice small budget”
