Emraan Hashmi says he would enjoy working in the same genre as Once upon a time in Mumbai. The actor was spotted at the Jagran film festival that screened the 2010’s ‘Once upon a time in Mumbai’ on Sunday. Emrran also held an interactive session with the audience.
The Baadshaho actor was asked if he would like to work in another gangster film portraying a similar role as Shoaib from ‘Once upon a Time in Mumbai’, he said, “Maybe something different in the same genre would be great. The tricky thing about this genre is that they have created their own space in the industry and there are many similar films like that. So if I am offered a script, it has to be more evolved and my character will have to be completely different than Shoaib, the one I have played before.”
The actor when talking about the film and his mindset before he said choosing this film was a conscious creative decision, “Not to get away from the image I had but as a creative person, I had reached a point where you start sleep talking through films. You come home and think this is getting too easy and you need to try something else. And ‘Once upon a Time…’ was something new.
I had a bad patch before this film. Some 4 films didn’t work that were released back to back and granted not all movies work but this was something I just had to do. It felt very important to do something different.”
Hashmi is set to star and produce his next project ‘Cheat India’. It will be directed by Soumik Sen and co-produced by T series and Ellipsis Entertainment.
The film is drama inspired by real incidents in the Indian education system.
‘Cheat India’ is slated to release in Feb 2019.
