If I carry the baggage of my old films I won’t be able to work: Richa Chadda

Published on

Richa Chadda was spotted at a poster photo shoot for her upcoming film ‘Daas Dev‘ along with director, Sudhir Mishra. During interaction she said, she thinks if she carries the baggage of her old films she won’t be able to work.

Richa who is known for strong characters like Bholi Punjaban, when asked why chose to become Paro she said, “I became part of the project because I found it to be something new and interesting. I wanted to work with Sudhir Mishra and this project was going to give me that opportunity. I think every actor should gain the experience of working with him. And I think if I carry the baggage of my old films I won’t be able to work.”

After the makers have been mum about the film’s story so far, Richa drops hints as to what can the audience expect from this reverse journey of Devdas. “Daas dev is a flip of the original classic. The original story had been presented 4 times already so this is an adaptation, a new interpretation of the story.

Describing these new age versions of the characters Dev Paro and Chandramukhi that we grew up with, Richa said, “The story has a Dev Daas who has no interest in becoming the Dev (god) so becomes the Daas (servant). We have a Paro who does suffer on her own but fights dev. and there’s Chandramukhi who does not play the prostitute as shown in the classic but participates in power-broking. It is still a love story but the context is what changes the story. The film showcases the story of UP’s Political family.”

“I am very excited about the ‘Inside Edge’, Now that I understand the digital medium more, I can’t wait to start shooting for it. We will be shooting for season 2 and 3 this year.” she added.

Richa was last seen in Fukrey Returns directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, and her future projects also include, Love Sonia, Cabaret, and Ghoomketu to be released in 2018.
