May 31, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): IIFA has always been known to come up with some noble causes associated with itself and continues the legacy this year too, and this time in Sri Lanka. And, what will be better than a cricket match to raise funds for a good cause?
The International Indian Film Academy, has decided to organize a charity cricket match between the B-town celebs and the Sri Lankan cricket team as an initiative to help rehabilitate the former Tamil Tiger child soldiers. The IIFA awards 2010 will be held from June 3 to 5 in Colombo, the Sri Lankan capital. The celeb teams will be headed by Hrithik Roshan and Suniel Shetty.
As stated by Hrithik, he feels very proud to be a part of the IIFA team and is honored to play with the Sri Lankan cricketers and his fraternity friends. He supports the initiative taken by IIFA and will put in his best to justify his position as the captain of a team towards this noble cause. Suniel Shetty also seemed to be very excited about the matches expressing his love for cricket.
The B-town celeb team will consist of actors like Salman Khan, Dino Morea and other cricketers like Vinod Kambli and Kiran More. The Sri Lankan team will be headed by captain Sangakkara, which will include players like Mahela Jayawardene, Muttiah Muralitharan and Sanath Jayasuriya.
The celebs will be divided into two teams because of the overwhelming participation by the fraternity. It would be interesting to see the celebs struggle it out against the cricketers and raise maximum resources to help the noble cause. We appreciate the initiative taken by IIFA.
