Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt are coming together for Zoya Akhtar‘s Gully Boy. It was at the beginning of 2017 that Zoya announced the star cast and confirms that the movie will go on floors in coming January and will tentatively release at the end of 2018.
“I will start rolling in January, so towards the end of next year, release, I think,” said Zoya Akhtar on the sidelines of Fukrey Returns success bash.
Ranveer is all set to glorify Desi-rappers in upcoming Gully Boy, which revolves around an underdog who rises from the slums of Mumbai to become a rapper. However, the role of Alia Bhatt is still not clear.
Zoya Akhtar also confirmed the new addition to the ensemble cast of Gully Boy. She said, “There is Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Amrita Subhash, Vijay Raaz, Sheeba Chadda and more, I am mean they are coming on”
Fukrey Returns is produced by Farah Akhtar and sister Zoya Akhtar is nothing but praises for the film.
She said, “It is unabashed and unapologetic fun, and it is tight. I like what he has done with the characters and carried them on to the next film, it is very tight in a way. So you must watch it. It is a laugh. I like all four of them in the film and Richa Chadda”
The Gully Boy is co-written by Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti. It will be produced by Excel Entertainments.
In the meantime, Ranveer Singh is still awaiting the release of Padmavati, which also stars Shahid Kapoor and Deepika Padukone.
Alia Bhatt is busy wrapping Raazi, which is helmed by Meghna Gulzar.
