Actor Ajay Devgn, along with Ileana D’cruz, Surab Shukla and Rajkumar Gupta were present at the trailer launch of their upcoming film ‘Raid” on Tuesday. During an interaction, Ajay said that keeping the character realistic wasn’t easy.

After heroic characters in films like ‘Singham’ and ‘Drishyam’ when asked if ‘Raid’ will create a similar or different perspective for the audience, Ajay said, ” The character is very heroic but the struggle was that it is a real character. So we had to make a conscious effort to keep it real. Even if he has to say a punch line it should look like it is said by a real person. We have done our best to portray the character as realistically as possible, but now time will tell if the audience will like it. ”

When asked if he met any people from the department for research for the film, Ajay said, “We didn’t have to, Ritesh (writer) and Rajkumar Gupta understood a lot from him. To speak, the film is based on a real person so while shooting we knew when and how they felt at a certain point of time, so it was easy to follow those instructions.”

Ajay who has been part of the industry for a long time said it isn’t easy to keep that position and fame, “It is difficult you cant take everything so easily and you have to work hard for it. If you achieve something you have to know it’s not going to last forever. You have to keep going at it because there will be a point when you start moving back.”

‘Raid’ which is based on true events in the 1980’s talks about one of the most high-profile IT raids the country has ever witnessed, when asked if there is a message he would like to give to tax-evaders he said, “I don’t know if the film is trying to give a message but what film talks about is true. You should be fair on tax. If you earn something then you have to pay taxes. At times the fault is on both sides, from the taxation department and the taxpayer, so I feel they should be just on both sides.”

Directed by Rajkumar Gupta the film stars Ajay Devgan Ileana D’Cruz and Saurabh Shukla in pivotal roles.

The script is written by Ritesh Shah who has been associated with Pink and Airlift.

‘Raid’ is scheduled for a March 16 release.
