Kangana Ranaut: Experimental Queen

Published on

June 4, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): It might not be long since she set her foot in tinsel town, but she has taken Bollywood by storm, with her extra ordinary good looks and natural talent, calling her a fantastic actress would be just an understatement, or for that matter anything else. But then again Kangana Ranaut, wasn’t here to follow anybody’s rule, she was here to make some of her own. Looking back at the list of movies that she has done, she has succeeded in carving a niche for her self. Today as one of the top leading ladies in Bollywood, Kangana is not here to play safe, with the type of role she has been taking up, she wants to do it ALL.

This beauty from the Himachal Pradesh made her debut in 2006 with the film Gangster directed by Anurag Basu, her performance as a gangster’s moll was well received and critically appreciated. After that there was no looking back for this superstar. She then starred as the troubled schizophrenic actress (based on yesteryear actress Parvenn Babi’s life) in Woh Lamhe opposite Shiney Ahuja, the movie fared average at the box office, but Kangana shined in the film. It was followed by number of hits; she played the role of the “other woman” in Life…In a metro, her character was that of a naïve women looking for someone to lover her, but wrongly chooses and falls in love with a married man.

In 2008 Kangana delivered a power packed performance in Madhur Bhandarkar’s national award winning film Fashion. Kangana Ranaut carried the role of a model, who becomes a victim of her own self destruction due to drug abuse, garnered a lot of attention. For the critically praised role in the movie, the pretty actress won the Filmfare award for best supporting actress and the National award for best supporting actress.

At just 23, Kangana is not only young, talented and spunky but also very focused and determined, her next movie Once upon a time in Mumbaai has her experimenting with her role yet again, and the movie which is set in the 70’s according to reports needed someone audacious, daring and with an open mind. Kangana fitted the bill perfectly; she will star opposite Ajay Devgan. The movie is expected to hit the floors on July 30th, 2010.

Whether she is making news for her controversy filled personal life or her spotless Professional life, Kangana Ranaut always knows how to make heads turn, and she is natural at that also and we are certainly not complaining. She is definitely an actress of caliber, who is not going to be stereotyped anytime soon. Kangana Ranaut is different and she lives for it. That’s all.
