It is quite unnecessary to state that Koffee with Karan is a show in a different league all together. In his second season, Karan chooses to try something even more different. Of course, his own buddies are the ones mostly adorning his sets, but then again, every now and then, we get a surprise. Not too long back, he actually had Rakhi Sawant on his show. Who would ever expect that? Especially since most of Bollywood choose her as a poster girl for ridicule on the same show. Though, she lived up to her reputation and gave us everything that we expected of her. It was quite a coup, if I say so myself.
Himesh Reshammiah and Karan Johar in Koffee With Karan
So after a little bit of normality, Karan decided to get adventurous once again. This time, he chose to have our very own Himesh Bhai as his guest of honor. Yes, yes. The one thing that Himesh and Rakhi share is that both have been made fun of a LOT of times on Koffee with Karan. But still, like Rakhi, Himesh came and was courteous, nice and everything we did not expect.
This is the first time that there has been only 1 guest on K Jo’s show. But Himesh held fort well and there was not a boring moment. When he came, he greeted Karan warmly and it must be said, he looked very nice, with the cap included. As Karan congratulated him on the success of his film, Aap Ka Suroor-The Moviee, Himesh graciously thanked god and all his well wishers. A lot of people wanted to catch this episode as everyone was so curious about the plans that this Gujrati boy has. One must admit that he is very ambitious. It was quite unnerving to hear him say that he was very aware of what his colleagues and contemporaries thought of him. And the biggest part is that he does not really hate them for it. He understands that every new thing is always ridiculed first, but then, when it works, people sit up and take notice.
Himesh Reshammiah with his mother Madhu Reshammiah
It was a very good move for him to come on the show because there was so much about him that people were unaware of. As a good host, Karan brought him out with the right questions and he seems like a really sweet person. Believe me, I was not a Himesh fan, in fact, quite the opposite. But after watching him, I am a believer. The intensity could be sensed as he broke down thrice. But nothing about the man was fake – not the acceptance, or the belief or the tears.
So I have to say, Karan really added a feather to his hat by getting on his show one of the most determined people in the industry. I sure hope to see more of him.
