Niel Nitin Mukesh after a much acclaimed debut in Johnny Gaddar didn’t have a single release in 2008. In this fast moving industry most of his contemporaries have seem to have raced ahead past him. But Neil says that does not make him nervous. “None of us are insecure here. I was the first amongst the lot but we all have our own space and we are doing different kinds of films then why worry.”
Neil constantly has been consciously choosing roles that are not romantic. While his Johnny Gaddar was a negative role his next Freeze with director Jahangir Surti is titled Freeze and will see him playing a super hero. “Freeze was the working title. The title has been changed to Aa Dekhe Zara. Yes this is not a romantic role too. It is about a boy who gets a camera which shows the future. The camera is the super hero in the film not me” informs Neil.
Revealing further he says “The setting of the camera shows the day to day life. The film is not fictitious like Back To the Future the series and events happen similarly.”
The film also has the old melody Aa Dekhe Zara from the film Rocky and it is said that Neil has rendered the song. “I am not sure about singing. But yes the director has liked my voice. I will try it. I have composed a song for the film but haven’t sung any numbers. I cannot concentrate on both the fields at the same time. When I compose and record I want to do it peacefully and calmly and we don’t have that much time on hands now” he says.
Neil is now also looking forward to Yash Raj Films’ New York and Sudhir Mishra’s film Tera Kya Hoga Johnny, both of which are ready now and set for releasing in the coming months.
