Vijay Tendulkar, Well-known Marathi playwright died at his Pune residence early yesterday morning (19th May). He was suffering from a serious prolonged illness. Vijay Tendulkar started his career with writing for newspapersand moved on to write some most loved Marathi plays like Ghashiram Kotwal and Sakharam Binder. The eminent writer also wrote the powerful screenplays for some Hindi films such as Ardh Satya Nishant and Akrosh.
Vijay Tendulkar had won the National Award for Best Screenplay for Manthan, a Shyam Benegal film. He was also coveted with prestigious Padma Bhushan award, way back in the year 1984. Though his works will remain mortal, let’s hope for his soul to rest in peace.
